Stash, Not Stash

When my first order from Gorgeous Fabrics arrived last week, I was so excited. I had so many different ideas running through my head. Should I make a top and skirt? Should I make a dress? Should I wash it, fold it neatly and stash it? Then I read this post by Toy, and decided not to stash it, but use it.  You see, I have a bad habit of buying fabric and then waiting for the PERFECT pattern.  I have fabric in my stash that has been waiting for that perfect pattern for about 20 years now.  Anyway, I decided not to stash it and sew up something fun with it.  Since McCall’s 6744 was still on my cutting table I decided to make up view C.

If you are looking for a nice summer dress, you might want to pick this little gem up.

And, if you looking for really nice knit fabric, check out Gorgeous Fabrics (I hear there is a sale on knits this weekend).

Have a great weekend everyone.  Cut into that fabric and sew something grand!

    1. Thanks Justine! No cover stitch used, in fact I didn’t even use my serger (too lazy to change the threads). Just my sewing machine with a small zigzag (SL 1) for all seams and hems. Yes, for sure check out Ann’s lovely fabrics. I have ordered twice now from her, and I am very happy with everything I have bought. She also seems to cut long, which is an added bonus!

  1. This is a really beautiful dress! I have been looking at some polka dot fabric lately thinking about a dress for myself. Visiting you from Sew Country Chick

  2. OMG I so do that, buy fabric ’cause I like it but then it just waits for the perfect pattern! Love the fabric and it looks fab on you.

      1. Teri I enjoy your sewing adventures so have nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogger Award – see my latest post for details.

    1. Thanks Mary Beth. I am making myself use stash fabric for a few things and then reward myself with new fabric. I think my logic is sound but my husband probably doesn’t 🙂
